Pages on Phyllis Petcoff's website :

The production of glass objects was one of the first industries in the American Colonies. The first glasshouse was established in Jamestown, Virginia in the early 17th century. Its products were glass beads for trade, bottles and window glass.

Bryce Brothers operated under many names and organizations over time, Including Bryce, McKee & Company, Bryce, Richards & Company, Bryce, Walker & Company, Bryce Brothers, and Bryce Higbee & Company. Like many glass manufacturers, Bryce Brothers was a family affair.

These are the most common forms found in Early American Pattern Glass. Not all patterns had every form and some had other novelty items not listed here. Often companies sold a Table Set, consisting of a butter dish, creamer, sugar, and spooner as a unit.

Collectors use the term "Greentown Glass" when referring to glass produced by the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company which was located in Greentown, Indiana, about 5 miles east of Kokomo. The Company existed from 1894-1903 when the factory was destroyed by fire and was not rebuilt.

Early American Pattern Glass began about 1826 at the Sandwich (MA) Glass Works when Deming Jarves developed a mechanical glass press that could produce glass tableware in quantity and quality at a lower cost rather than being mouth blown or Mold Blown individually.
